NBA Superstars of the 80s and 90s

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar #33

The 7-foot-2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 1975 and quickly established himself as basketball's most talented and recognizable figure. His patented skyhook helped him and the Lakers earn a staggering five NBA championships in the 80s (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988).

He was the kind of player that graces a sport once in a lifetime. The basketball world might never again see an athlete dominate the sport for as long and as thoroughly as Abdul-Jabbar did. He retired as the NBA's all-time leader in nine statistical categories.


Larry Bird #33

Larry Bird enjoyed a legendary 13-year career with the Boston Celtics. Bird joined the Celtics in 1979 and launched an era both in Boston and throughout the NBA that may never again be duplicated. At a time when the league and the Celtics needed a boost, Bird and fellow rookie sensation Earvin "Magic" Johnson provided the spark.

He won the Championship with the Celtics in 1981, 1984 and 1986. Larry Bird retired in 1992 and by that time he held or shared 27 Celtics' records.


Isiah Thomas #11

Isiah Thomas was definately one of the most charismatic point-guards of the 80s and early 90s. He joined the Detroit Pistons in 1981 and led them to 2 consequtive NBA Championships in 1989 and 1990.

Isaih Thomas retired as a player in 1994 and is Detroit's all-time leading scorer.
